OBITUARY: Published in Denver Post on Nov. 6, 2016:

Jane, 93, was born to Dr. Lawrence and Marjorie Bromfield. She grew up in Park Hill attending Smiley Junior High. She graduated from Denver's East High School in 1941. She entered Fairmont Junior College in Washington,DC, but with the start of World War II she returned to Denver, where she volunteered with the American Red Cross as a truck driver. After that she went to work for General Outdoor Advertising. She met her first husband, William W. Argall in 1945 and they were married on April 19, 1947 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Jane and Bill raised three children: Judith, Woodruff and Louise.

During the 1950s and 1960s Jane was active in the Junior League of Denver, primarily with that organization's children's theater. She was a founding member of the Cookie Jar Investment Club, an early investment group for women, and she was an anchor of the Capitol Hill neighborhood she called home for over 40 years. William W. Argall died October 7, 1973.

Jane married John C. Foster on October 26, 1974, and they enjoyed 33 happy years together. Jane and John were recycling pioneers long before Denver and other cities adopted the practice. They were also world travelers; cruising the seas for months at a time was a particular passion. John would say, "Let's go to New Zealand,"and Jane would reply, "My bags are packed." They even flew on the Concorde SST, indulging John's love of flying and his training as a pilot.

Jane was a long-serving volunteer at many Denver institutions, including the Denver Art Museum, the Salvation Army, La Cache for Children's Hospital and the Altar Guild of St Barnabas Episcopal Church. Jane and John had an extensive crčche collection and would display it each Christmas. Jane loved Denver and worked hard to make it a great city. She believed in social justice for everyone. She was loyal and dedicated to her family and friends. She was known for her quick wit and keen mind. As a testament to Jane and John Foster's commitment and support, both in time and gifts, St. Barnabas Church has announced that the chapel in the church's new Marshall House will be named the Foster Chapel in their memory.

Jane was predeceased by husband John C. Foster, Sister Joann Bromfield Filippini.

Survived by sister Barbara B. Williams, Encinitas, CA; her children Judith Argall Dalziel (Charles Wilson) Sacramento, CA; Woodruff (Woody) Argall, Los Angeles, CA; Louise Argall Olm (Mark) Tucson, AZ; Step Daughters Patricia Foster Langworthy (Terry) Libertyville, IL; Marti Foster, Murrieta, CA; Barbara A. At the time of Anne's death, major restoration work was being carried out at St. Mary's Church, where Charlotte had chosen to bury Anne. For this reason the funeral was conducted at Christ Church, which was situated near the top of Vernon Place (now Vernon Road) - only a few minutes walk from Wood's Lodgings, the place where Anne had died. This seems inadvertently appropriate, as it was in this church where Anne had worshipped with the Robinson family on their annual visits to Scarborough some five to nine years earlier. (Christ Church was demolished in 1979, the site being next to the current Scarborough Library - close to the centre of Westborough).
It is interesting to note the entry in the 'Register of Burials' - stating Anne was 'from near York'. Obviously this information would not have been obtained from Charlotte or Ellen Nussey who were with Anne at Scarborough when she died; proving that the clergyman of Christ Church had remembered her from her attendances with the Robinsons. Anne had spent five years as governess to the Robinson children at Thorp Green, which is located just ten miles north-west of York!

Burial entry: Anne Brontė No. 1885 Scarborough 'from near York, May 30 28 I.W.Whiteside, Vicar.
Anne's obituary: the wording was as follows: 'On the 28th inst, at this place, of consumption, Miss Anne Bronte of Brookroyd, Birstall near Leeds'. The incorrect address was obviously on account of Ellen Nussey arranging the entry; this was her own address.

DEATH: Died of tuberculosis. Elizabeth Brontė died when she was only ten years old, and less is known about her than any other member of the family. When she was only a few months old, the Brontės moved from Hartshead to Thornton, and Mrs. Brontė's older sister, Elizabeth Branwell came up from Penzance to help with the move. The godmother chosen for the new baby was another Elizabeth, Elizabeth Firth, one of the Brontės' new friends in Thornton, so there were twin influences on the choice of Christian name.

BURIAL: She is buried in the family vault within St Michael and All Angels church in Haworth, West Yorkshire.

At 17, Emily went to the Roe Head School (her first experience with school since a very brief stint at the infamous Clergy Daughters' School) where Charlotte was then teaching. Emily managed to stay only three months before her nerves became too frazzled and she had to go home. She simply couldn't stand not being able to write.
Emily found a teaching job at Law Hill School in September 1838. The hours were grueling: 6 AM to 11 PM, with half an hour's break, and though Emily managed to do all right in her first term, her health broke under the stress and she returned home around April 1839. She never again attempted to find any kind of a job.
In 1842, Charlotte dragged Emily to a school in Brussels. Emily did well (her teachers were especially impressed with her clear, smooth writing style) but made no friends, as was typical for her. She went back home as soon as she possibly could.

DEATH: Emily died of tuberculosis in 1848. Death is recorded in the GRO indexes for the December quarter of 1848 in the Keighley Registration District under reference 23.237. She is listed as Emily Jane Bronte.

He appears to be a farm labourer and is living with the Clayton family at Brearley Hall, Midgley, Halifax, Yorkshire. (HO 107/1301/10, Folio 6, Page 4).

GENERAL NOTES:
Known as Branwell. Born Patrick Branwell Brontė at Thornton, Bradford, Yorkshire, England; the only son of Patrick Brontė and Maria Branwell's six children. Mrs. Brontė died when he was four; and his two eldest sisters died of tuberculosis in 1825. At 19 he was inducted into a Freemason Lodge and served as its secretary. As a youth he was considered a witty and stimulating young man. He apprenticed himself to a portraitist, William Robinson in about 1838. In 1839, however, he took a position as a tutor in the Lake District, but by1840, he had been dismissed, apparently in response to an illicit affair with a maid that resulted in an illegitimate child. He then took a job as a station clerk but was fired by the railroad in 1842 for negligence.
From her position as a governess, his sister procured for him another post as tutor with her employers. He was again dismissed, allegedly after an affair with his employer's wife. During the last years of his life, he appeared to ride a downward spiral of depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction and was often plagued by delirium tremens during which at one point he set his bed on fire. Weakened by his debauchery, he died of tuberculosis complicated by chronic bronchitis.
