GENERAL NOTES: Daughter of Edward. Johanna bestney (or Joane) was daughter of EDWARD BESTNEY of Soham, Cambridgeshire and later moved to Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, where he may have died. Johanna's great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was WILLIAM BESTNEY OF WEST BESTNEY, the Constable of Flint Castle, whose son RICHARD moved to live in HITCHIN. The Bestney family then also became known also in St. Albans Hertfordshire. A visitation exists in Hertfordshire archives dating firstly from when Lawrence Dalton, Narroy king of arms made a visitation 1558.
