BIRTH: Birth location provided by Janie Leuthold. Martin was never sure of his age; he later went to Eureka, Utah to find his birth certificate for this was where he thought he was born. He found that there had been a fire and all the records had been lost. He began to make guesses where he was born - he had been told by his father to take care of his little sisters so he believed himself to be older than they. So he guessed his birth year at 1889.

The Census record for 1900 records his birth as Aug 1891. His epitaph records his birth as Aug 1892. It now seems that he had been born in Marysvale, Utah (Piute County, with County Seat at Junction, Utah) and not in Eureka.
