Notes
General:
OCCUPATION: Sailor.

GENERAL NOTES: Or JOHN. [The majority of British overseas births during this time took place in Chile and were recorded in the Anglican Church in Valparaiso]. (Unsure which of his father's wives - if there was more than one - was his mother).

MARRIAGE: He may have also married to Abelino Ortega (although he has a son-in-law called Juan Aveleno Ortega).

At one time, he worked on ships travelling between Chile and England. John was thought originally to have been a seaman who worked on ships travelling from England to South America, but eventually worked with brother Arthur (#10343) on the construction of the Panama Canal (around 1911).

He used to carry metal with his son Gustavo Argall (#2248). Both were killed in an earthquake in Vallenar, Chile in 1922. Normally they returned home but on the preceeding day, they were running late and so decided to stay over in the house next to their Depot. As a result, they were involved and died.
