He was injured in a fall at Rucker Mill near Hartford, Washington State, USA, and died in his home from a broken neck on 4th December 1905, (information from certificate of death and article in Everett Daily Herald of 5th December 1905. His birthplace is stated as Australia and his age is given as 40 years).
