Born: 17 Mar 1816
Tavistock, [parish], Devon, England
Died: 2 Mar 1908
Mineral Point, Wiisconsin.

OBITUARY: Obituary of Mrs Jane Bennallack:

Mrs Jane Bennallack (nee Kinsman), wife of Ralph Bennallack, was born in Tavistock, Devonshire, England, on the 17th day of March, in the year 1816, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs James H. Prideaux, in the city of Dodgeville, on the 2nd day of March, in the year, 1908, at the ripe old age of 91 years, 11 months and 14 days.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Bennallack. This union was braced with eight children, three dying in infancy. In 1848, she with her husband and two children, immigrated to the United States, making Mineral Point their home until 1851, when they left for Lake Superior. In 1855 they returned and settled in the town of Linden, where they resided until 1878, when they moved to Dodgeville, where she resided until the time of her death. In 1874, in company with her husband, they visited their old home in England. In 1860, during a very extensive revival in Diamond Grove, she publicly confessed Christ as her personal Savior: her whole course subsequently was one of fidelity to the person and cause of the Master.

Her life in Dodgeville has been an exhibition of goodness, humility, activity and faith. These have been very beautifully illustrated in her character. Her religion was not a garment worn, but as an influence absorbed, and the result was that her life was not only luminous, but uniform. She bore the noontide toil and heat with a brave heart, and during the eventide of her life, were tired, folded hands she has been waiting for the summons, which should open unto her a morning of eternal day.

We shall all miss Grandma Bennallack, as she was commonly called. The familiar corner in the home which she occupied is now vacant. We shall miss her sweet smile and her kindly greeting, which met all who came to see her, and made us feel that our life was made stronger by coming in contact with such a beautiful character which when exemplified in her old age. The world was made better because she was permitted to live in it. She was the incarnation of goodness. She has fought the good fight, and has conquered the last enemy, Death. She died as she had lived, trusting in her blessed Redeemer. At the funeral of her son -in-law, Jas. Prideaux, only three weeks ago, she viewed his remains then sank back in her chair and said, "It won't be long, Jim and I will meet you again.". Little did any of us think at the time, that her wish would be so soon fulfilled, but "in the midst of life we are in death.". She was up and around all day Sunday, as usual, but felt a little uneasy during the night. Monday morning she expressed a desire to be dressed and get up. While this request was being granted, she sank back upon her pillow and bade adieu to a world of toil and care, her face radiant with the immortal hope, which inspired her soul during all her life.

Her husband preceded her twenty-four years ago, as did also one daughter, Mrs Wm. Marr. Those of the children are Matilda, wife of James Richards, of Mineral Point; William, of Streator, Ill.; Mrs Theodore Brown of Plain View, Neb., and Mrs Jas. H. Prideaux of Dodgeville. Besides these she leaves thirty-one grandchildren and forty Great-grandchildren.

"Weep not that her toils are over,
Weep not that her race if run.
God grant we may rest as calmly
When our work, lie hers, is done.
Till then we yield with gladness
Our mother for Him to keep,
And rejoice in the sweet assurance,
He giveth his loved ones sleep."

Her funeral took place from the Primitive Methodist church Thursday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. F. W. Schoenfeld, and assisted by Rev. Horton.
