DEATH: Obituary, Mineral Point Tribune, dated 17 May 1876: Mr. William Jacka, for many years an invalid, died at his residence in Mineral Point, on the 23 ult. He was among the early settlers in Mineral Point, and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends. This notice should have appeared last week, but was overlooked in the demoralization of the Editor.

THE DAILY MINING GAZETTE NEWSPAPER, HOUGHTON, MICHIGAN JANUARY 1901:

1901 February 9 Saturday - Captain William JACKA, aged 69 years, well known in Calumet and Keweenaw county, where he was employed for many years, died at his home at Ashland, Northern Wisconsin last Thursday. He was mining captain at the old Copper Falls mine. He was a brother of the late George JACKA, the father of George JACKA of Calumet; also Wrn JACKA, the well known liveryman; He had been making his home at Ashland after leaving Calumet and will be buried at Ashland. He was born in CORNWALL, ENGLAND 1832 January 30 and was brought up at mining work. He spent two years in South America for a London Mining company. He returned to England in 1854 and than came to the copper country and to the Minnesota Mining Company. He returned to England in 186? He than came to the Lake Superior copper country and worked till 1877. He mined in different states including Wisconsin, New York and others. In 1881 he went back to Copper Falls mine as a Captain till he gave up mining.
