ANNOUNCEMENT: Was Pastor of the Primitive Methodist Church; is a native of Cornwall England. He was born May 3rd 1841; his parents came to the United States in 1844. They came to Wisconsin and arrived on July 4 of the same year. He received his education in this State (Wisconsin) and prepared for the ministry. He began preaching as a local; preacher in 1863, and in 1870 he entered the regular ministry. He has preached for six years in Illinois, and four years in this State (Wisconsin). He became Pastor of the Primitive Methodist Church in May 1879. In August 1863, Mr Jacka was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth A Prideaux, a native of Grant Co.; they have five children.

DEATH: Obituary, Mineral Point Tribune, dated 17 May 1876: Mr. William Jacka, for many years an invalid, died at his residence in Mineral Point, on the 23 ult. He was among the early settlers in Mineral Point, and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends. In the 1851 UK Census, he is listed as William Jacka, a Miner, aged 20 and born in Germoe. He is living with his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters in Penhale, Breage. (HO 107/1913, Folio 345, Page 3).
In the 1870 US Census, he seems to be living without his family in Clifton Township, Keweenaw Co, Michigan. He is listed as Wm Jacka, a Copper Miner aged 39, born in England. He is living with a group of other Copper Miners. (Page 7).
In the 1880 US Census, he is listed as William Jacka, a miner aged 48 and born in England. He is living on Minong and Menagantic Islands, in the county of Isle Royale, Michigan, with his (second) wife, 4 daughters and 2 sons. [Note: Isle Royale County was annexed to Keweenaw in 1897]. THE DAILY MINING GAZETTE NEWSPAPER, HOUGHTON, MICHIGAN JANUARY 1901:

1901 February 9 Saturday - Captain William JACKA, aged 69 years, well known in Calumet and Keweenaw county, where he was employed for many years, died at his home at Ashland, Northern Wisconsin last Thursday. He was mining captain at the old Copper Falls mine. He was a brother of the late George JACKA, the father of George JACKA of Calumet; also Wrn JACKA, the well known liveryman; He had been making his home at Ashland after leaving Calumet and will be buried at Ashland. He was born in CORNWALL, ENGLAND 1832 January 30 and was brought up at mining work. He spent two years in South America for a London Mining company. He returned to England in 1854 and than came to the copper country and to the Minnesota Mining Company. He returned to England in 186? He than came to the Lake Superior copper country and worked till 1877. He mined in different states including Wisconsin, New York and others. In 1881 he went back to Copper Falls mine as a Captain till he gave up mining.
