BURIAL: Jane Jacka Paynter:
Birth: Jul. 16, 1838
Cornwall, England
Death: Jul. 11, 1919
Plankinton
Aurora County
South Dakota, USA
Buried in: Graceland Cemetery
Mineral Point
Iowa County
Wisconsin, USA.

OBITUARY: Mrs. William Paynter, one of the noblest characters and oldest settlers of [this] city, who left here a few weeks ago for a visit with her children in Iowa and South Dakota, was summoned to her eternal rest at the home of her son W. H. Paynter in Plankinton, S. Dak., last Friday, July 11, 1919, after a brief illness of only five hours.

The remains arrived in this city on Sunday afternoon and rested at the home of her son, Josiah Paynter from which place funeral services were held on Monday afternoon. Rev. A.H. Schoefeld, her pastor, officiating. The burial was made in Graceland.
Much of interest and value might be recorded in the passing from our midst of this saintly and useful life but space forbids yet we cannot refrain from mentioning some of the things which places the life of Mrs. Paynter in the list of the unusual. Jane Jacka was the twin daughter of William and Margaret Jacka and was born July 1y, 1838, in Cornwall, England. When five years of age she came to Mineral Point and this city with the exception of four years has been her home ever since. On July 23, 1853, she was united in marriage with William Paynter. Twenty-one children blessed tis union, ten dying in infancy and eleven growing up into manhood and womanhood. Nine of this number are still living. Mrs. Paynter also leaves forty-nine grandchildren and thirty-nine great grandchildren.
In early girlhood Mrs. Paynter committed her life into the keeping of the Christ and for more than seventy years was a faithful and loyal member of the same church, attending its services to the very end. No one can accurately estimate the influence for good of such a life as this. God alone can and will do the reckoning.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Simon Toay, Bingham, Iowa; Mrs. W.C. Harris, Plankinton, S. Dak.; W.E. Paynter, Hurley, Wis.; Josiah Paynter, Mineral Point; W.H. Paynter;, Plankinton, S.Dak.; T.J. Paynter, Dodgeville; C.M. Paynter, Mineral Point; Mrs. Earl Lyons, Plankinton, S.Kak.; Mrs. Sam. Harris, Mineral Point; Mrs. Ed Treloar died about six years ago and Mrs. Herman Wiesen, the youngest of the family died last January 1919; Mr. Paynter passed to the home beyond 18 years ago.
