OBITUARY: Published in The Columbus Dispatch on January 9, 2011:

DANFORTH Virginia "Ginny" Ann Danforth, 88, passed away suddenly at her home in The Summit at Lakeway, TX. In recent months, she constantly marveled at the wonderful life she had with her husband, Dan, raising her children, traveling and playing golf throughout the world, and the endless list of close friends around the globe. Ginny was born in Peoria, IL on May 3, 1922 to Jesse Cleon Hurley and Hazel Joanna Kaufman. Her mother, Hazel, passed away when Ginny was a young girl. Her stepmother, Fran, became her mother and helped shape Ginny's positive approach to life. Ginny attended Sullens College in Virginia studying art and fashion.

To pursue her passion in art, Ginny, moved to New York City. It was there in 1942 that she met a young USN Ensign, Edward (Dan) Argyl Danforth, who was in training as a deep sea diver. They began their 66 year marriage at "The Little Church Around the Corner" in New York City on August 20, 1942. Ginny and Dan moved to California where Ginny worked in San Francisco, CA as Dan served three years in the Pacific Theater until VJ Day. After the war they moved to Cobleskill, NY to begin their family and start a business. These early moves were merely a warm-up for Ginny's future. As Dan furthered his career in commercial refrigeration, the Danforth's moved to Palo Alto, CA, Portland and Beaverton OR, Sunnyvale, CA, Upper Arlington and Dublin, OH and Lakeway, TX. During these years, Ginny traveled all over the United States and Canada and around the world, including the Caribbean, Bermuda, Europe and the Orient where she built lasting friendships, played golf and challenged others to a hand or two of Bridge.

Ginny was also active as a docent, a candy striper and a Cub Scout Den mother. Another passion of Ginny's was hosting elegant dining in her own home with her finest silver and china offering exotic recipes she gathered throughout the world. She is survived by her eldest son, Timothy Edward Danforth and Tim's wife, Patricia Caudy Danforth and granddaughters, Jessica Danforth Cottey and Regan Danforth House, all of Austin, TX. She is also survived by granddaughter, Melissa Ann Danforth of Plain City, OH; and grandsons, Nathan Edward Danforth, Kannapolis, NC and Zachary Alan Danforth, Dublin, OH; and nieces, Patricia Schiettecat, of Kelseyville, CA and Linda Sue Stephens of Lower Lake, CA. Ginny was pre-deceased by her husband Dan, and two sons Thompson Hurley Danforth and Nicholas Argyl Danforth.

The family requests memorials, in lieu of cards or flowers, sent to The Mary Kay Foundation, PO Box 799045, Dallas, TX 75379, which supports research on cancers affecting women and domestic abuse. (Ginny was a breast cancer survivor.) Services are planned for February 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. in St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, 7121 Muirfield Drive, Dublin, OH 43017.

OCCUPATION: Originally, a Tailor. Later, a Gentleman and Baptist Minister.

GENERAL NOTES: Rev Joseph Ivimey was born in Ringwood Hampshire 22/5/1773. and his mother was Sarah Bramble born 1777 they married in Ringwood 7/7/1795. They had six children in total but I can only find three: Ann born 1800 Joseph 1803 and Jane born 1804, Jane died in infancy and I believe the other three died before the Rev Joseph who was buried in Bunhill field London in 1834.

The parents of Joseph Ivimey are Charles Ivimey and Sarah Tilley who married in Ringwood on 6 Oct 1772 (IGI Batch no M150516). They had a daughter, Amey (or Amy), and who was living with them in 1841 (census) and is also listed with Joseph & 6 others as the children of Charles Ivimey and Sarah (IGI Batch no C069521). The date quoted for Joseph's birth is that generally given in the biographies. Sarah would appear to be the daughter of Thomas Tilley & Mary Amey who married on 22 May 1749 (IGI Batch nos M150561 & C 069521).

Josephs second wife, Ann Price nee Spence, had been married before and had three children one died young and then Ann, her daughter, died aged 21, Joseph wrote a memoir to this girl and she was addressed as Ann Price her name never changed. On his wife Ann's death it is written that her two sons were present - Joseph who is Joseph's son, and John Parr who is Joseph's daughter Ann's husband; their marriage is documented on Ancestry, I think its 1825 Middlesex, but I can't find them after that.

Was of Eagle Street Baptist Church in the Hammersmith area.
