OBITUARY January 11th, Eagle, Eagle, Colorado:

Former Woolcott resident J.W. (Walsh) Holland, 56, died Friday, January 5th in Lakewood, Colorado, after six weeks of illness. Holland, a retired rancher, lived in Lakewood for 25 years. He owned and operated the Holland Ranch at Woolcott for many years.
He was born February 22, 1886, at Eureka, Colorado, and spent his childhood in Woolcott. He married Blanche A Mahoney, in January 1913 at Glenwood Springs. His wife died on October 21, 1961.
Holland's daughter, Mr J K (Rose) Argall, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive him. Funeral services were held January 9th in Glenwood Springs.

OBITUARY: Mrs. J.B. Williams, 87, mother of Arthur J. Williams of near Emmetsburg, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.G. Thompson, at Estherville Wed. morning. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church.

Mrs. Williams was one of the early residents of the Emmetsburg locality. In addition to her son Arthur, she is survived by two other sons, George of Cedar Rapids and Gilbert of Long Beach, California, and one daughter, Mrs. L.G. Thompson of Estherville.

MIGRATION: Thomas immigrated to the USA on 13 June, 1837 on the ship, Eliza Warwick.
"Traveled from Liverpool, England on the passenger ship Eliza Warwick departing on 13 Jun 1837. Also on board were the Holland family also of England, of which 2 year old Elizabeth was traveling with her parents. Later both families would settle in Elizabeth, IL where James and Elizabeth Holland were married." Their oldest child (Ann) stayed in England until 1843 when she joined the family, coming with her paternal grandparents.

Holland, Thomas, Retired farmer; Section 9; P. O. Avery; born in Cheshire, England, December 10, 1805; married Miss Mary Hamilton in August 1830; came directly to this County from England in 1837; bought the claim of land upon which he now resides from N. Morris; he is one of the pioneers of Jo Daviess County; has ten children living: Mrs. Ann Ranson, Mrs. Elizabeth Cook of Page County, Iowa, Thomas of Morseville, Edwin on Homestead, John of Kansas, George of this county, Mrs. Mary Williams of Weston, William of Nevada, Enoch of California; lost his wife in 1875; married Mrs. Spencer; one child; married Mrs. Shimmon; lost her and is now living in a neat cottage of which he is the sole monarch, at the age of 72.

OBITUARY: Galena Weekly Gazette November 3, 1892: Obituary, Thomas Holland Sr.
Thomas Holland, Sr., was born in Cheshire England, Decr. 10, 1805, and died in Elizabeth Township, Ill., Oct. 6th, 1892, being nearly 87 years of age at the time of his death.
Mr Holland came to Galena in 1837, and after living here six years, he settled on the farm in Elizabeth township where he spent the remainder of his days. He was an honest, hard-working man, possessing a vigorous constitution and unlimited energy and perseverence. Several times after he was 85 years of age he walked to Galena and returned the same day, a distance of eighteen miles. He was a warm-hearted man, and an excellent neighbor. He was three times married, and leaves ten children, three daughters and seven sons. Ther are Mrs Ann Ransomk of Long Hollow, Ill.; Elizabeth, wife of James Cook, of Long Hollow; Ralph of Essex, Iowa; Thomas of Savannah, Ill.; Edwin, living on the old homestead in Elizabeth Township; John of Stells, Neb.; Mary, wife of James Williams, of Emmetsiburg, Iowa; George of Pawnee Rock, Kansas; William of Long Hollow, and Enoch of Grass Valley, California.
The funeral, which was verty largely attended, was held from the residence of his daughter, Mrs Ransom, Rev. David Clark of Galena officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery at Weston.
