This was always kept a secret, apparently in those days it was not unusual for families to conceal this type of thing.

Dorothy had a twin sister, Hazel, who did not look like her or necessarily look like the rest of the family; her personality was very different also.
Dorothy looked like Nanny (Phoebe) Dorothy also lived with Phoebe and Doddy at John Street, as did her brother.

My (a correspondent) grandmother was Dorothy Burns and we believe that Phoebe Harrison /Argall was her mother. Dorothy was born in 1908; she was the daughter of Hugh Burns (husband of Phoebe's sister - Eve Harrison) and the youngest Harrison daughter, Harriet Phoebe, later Argall.
This was always kept a secret, apparently in those days it was not unusual for families to conceal this type of thing.
Dorothy had a twin sister, Hazel, who did not look like her or necessarily look like the rest of the family; her personality was very different also.
Dorothy looked like Nanny (Phoebe). Dorothy also lived with Phoebe and Doddy at John Street, as did my father.
On trying to obtain a passport for Dorothy, we found out that she was not registered with her (supposed) twin sister, and consequently there is no record of her.
Nanny (Phoebe) gave me her wedding ring prior to her dying which I have worn since I was married in 1973; I did not realize the implications of all the secrecy surrounding the family tree at the time, but all Dorothy and Hazel's, the older sisters and brothers of Dorothy's generation, knew. However, Hazel (the supposed twin sister) did not.
So, you are correct Doddy and Phoebe did not have a child but we believe that prior to them getting married Phoebe had twin children out of wedlock.
