BIRTH: Jack Cornett Day was born April 15, 1914 in Merced, California.

Jack C Day in the California Birth Index, 1905-1995:
Name: Jack C Day
Birth Date: 15 Apr 1914
Gender: Male
Mother's Maiden Name: Cornett
Birth County: Merced.

MARRIAGE: From his son, Robert: Jack was married 5 times. This wives were: Dorthea Butts, Margaurite Riggs, Grace Johnson, Mary Olds. Edna was his first wife. The order was: Edna, Dorthea, Marguerite, Grace, Mary. His only children were Benny by Edna, & me & my sister Judy by Dorthea.

First marriage: From his son, Ropbert: I don't think I met Edna until the 1990s, but she was a real lady. She was so generous in sharing pictures and information about my brother Benny. I had met Benny a few times, but wasn't raised with him. We saw each only a few times in his life. I have met his son Robert (who has since died), and his wife & 2 sons. I have met Benny's last wife Nola, and we have communicated some. She has married again since Benny died.

Second marriage: He married Dorothea in Reno, Nevada, on 22 June 1962

From Robert: He was a cowboy , a good horseman and followed that most of his life. Edna and Jack had one son: Robert Benjamin Day born June 18, 1938 in Fresno, California. My dad was a cowboy all his life, worked cattle ranches, and led pack mules in the high sierra in Yosemite.

He was a nice guy, that people liked. Apparently, he wasn't such a great guy to live with. My (Roberta's) parents were separated before I was 4 and divorced before I was 5, so I don't remember much about him as a child. I did see him on & off through the rest of his life, but didn't always know where he was, or with whom. It has been through my family history research, and thanks to his sister Barbara, that I have learned what I do know about his life.

Fourth marriage: He married Grace Melissa Johnson in Carson City on 3 December 1956.

Fifth marriage: He married Mary Olds in 1966. Mary had grown sons from her first marriage. Mary stayed with him the longest, maybe he had mellowed some. And she stayed with him through his last years, when he was very ill, and when he was dying. She was a nice person, and stayed part of our family until her death.
